Trial Judgment: Merely Political
I have not watched any of the CJ Corona impeachment trial hearings on their full shows in TV at all, however, I was informed about them because of the news, tweets and posts on Facebook.
Based from everything that I know, I don’t think CJ Corona should be impeached. Not because I don’t doubt his accounts (in fact I still want to question it) but because the details of the hearings (arguments, evidences presented, reasons et al.) just made Corona guilty of INACCURACY and QUESTIONABILITY of his SALN. Such things are not impeachable because of the following reasons: 1) The law doesn’t state that inaccuracy of the SALN is impeachable 2) We cannot say that it is betrayal of the public trust because we still have no proof that his accounts were fruits of his “corruption”, and even if it is still questionable, it doesn’t mean that he betrayed the public trust (in this way, further investigations SHOULD be held).
Everything about the final judgment is merely political. Aren’t some of the senators aware of these? I mean, they should know these. These points are too simple for them not to realize. Now, I just lost my trust to some of them.
The trial was very historical yet was very senseless. So what if CJ Corona was impeached? Just because he got a questionable SALN, he was impeached? Since it is questionable, they should further investigate about it. Some people say “Finally the truth was revealed”, where the hell is truth there? They just proved that he has inaccurate details of his SALN but they were not able to prove that he really was impeachable.
In the end, I find the judgment yesterday, merely political. I was not satisfied. It is a big joke to impeach an official just because you have proven that his/her SALN is inaccurate and questionable. Just because you doubt their accounts, they should be impeached. They still have to prove that there is really something behind the questionability of his SALN, not just as it is such.
